Does your blurb give the right impression? 6 feedback questions to ask readers.

The blurb of your book should do a few simultaneous things:

  • hook in your target audience,
  • repel people who definitely aren’t your target audience,
  • and set expectations for those who go on to read your book.

All three of these things are very important. They have an impact on who is reading your book, and they can influence the reading experience of those people. This, in turn, can impact the reviews your book gets and whether readers are keen to read more of your work.

Hello! Welcome to this list of Twitter pitch events coming up in the second half of 2023.

Pitch events (also called pitch contests or pitch parties) are usually one-day events on Twitter during which writers use a particular hashtag to get eyes on their manuscript pitches. This is often in the hope of grabbing the attention of agents and publishers, but there are also events for finding beta readers or simply for authors to cheer each other on.

With Twitter being in a turbulent state at the moment, there is uncertainty around the future of pitch events on the platform—however, there's still plenty going on! The list below gathers all the information I could find about what is happening, and when, for the rest of 2023.
