Receiving professional editorial feedback can be a transformative step in a writer’s creative journey, and I want to make accessing that feedback easier for all those who want it.
That’s why I have set up a Pay It Forward fund. Five percent of my proceeds go into the fund, along with generous donations from the writing community. This money is used to subsidise the cost of my services for anyone who isn’t able to pay the full price.
Accessing the fund
If you want to book my services but the full cost is prohibitive to you, the Pay It Forward fund is for you.
All you need to do to access the fund is to contact me, letting me know which service you are interested in and how much you would need from the Pay It Forward fund.
This works as an honour system: if you request access to the fund, I will trust that you need it. I won’t ask for ‘proof’ or otherwise question you.
If there’s not enough in the Pay It Forward fund to cover what you need, we can discuss options such as alternative services or joining a waitlist for when more funds become available.
Specific funds
In addition to the general fund, I have put aside specific funds for:
- Black, Indigenous, Asian, Arab, Latine and other racialised people;
- trans women, transfem people and other transmisogyny-affected people;
- chronically ill and disabled people.
If you would like to access any of these specific funds (which are not mutually exclusive with each other or the general fund), you only need to disclose to me which fund(s) you want to use. You don’t have to disclose anything to me about your marginalisations or identities that you aren’t comfortable disclosing. I will treat anything that you do disclose to me in the utmost confidence.
Contributing to the fund
The Pay It Forward fund exists thanks to the generous donations of those who can afford to give in solidarity with the wider writing community.
It was started from proceeds from the Pitch with Pride fundraiser in June 2023. Thank you to all who supported the fundraiser; you made this possible.
